When attempting to update Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 from the Windows Store you may encounter this error message:

“You need to use an account with Administrator privileges to install Windows 8.1, try logging in with the user account of an administrator of this PC and trying the update again”

Steps to resolve the issue

1) Use the following link to check if the machine is a Trusted PC http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows-8/what-is-trusted-device

Follow the steps make it a Trusted PC on the web link

2) Uninstall KB 2871389  and then reinstall this update, it may not be installed properly
