While starting the Netlogon on a windows 2008 server we kept getting netlogon service error 10044
Windows could not start the Net logon service on the Local computer.Error 10044: The support for the specified socket types doesn’t exist in the address family.
We checked the event viewer and found the event ID 5737, 7036 and 7036 in reference to Netlogon
Netlogon Event ID 5737 – The support for the specified socket type does not exist in this address family
Event ID: 7023 Source: Service Control Manager
Description: Netlogon service terminated with the following error message: Access Denied.
After troubleshooting we figured some of the registry entry from WinSock were missing from the server. We imported the following two Winsock keys from a working server and performed a winsock reset to resolve the issue.
After this opened a command prompt (Run as Admin) and performed a WinSock Reset
Netsh winsock reset
Rebooted the server and the service came backup just fine.
